LaMarque Ward

LaMarque Ward
CEO of Dream Builder University

LaMarque Ward spent 9 years teaching and leading in Job Corps, but over time, he realized that the young people he served needed more than just academic instruction.  They needed life coaching, someone to help them identify their personal goals and dreams, so they could build plans for their success.  That’s when the idea for Dream Builders was born!

LaMarqué founded Dream Builders University in 2009.  His vision was straightforward:  to educate people with relevant life-changing information, to challenge old ideas, and to inspire people in organizations and schools to deliver their highest potential to humanity.

Dr Sam Kline PhD

Dr. Sam Kline, PhD
Consultant in Cincinnati Office

Growing up in a small Mississippi town, Dr. Sam saw the legacy of Jim Crow– from a restaurant that expected Black people to go through a back door to segregated homecoming courts and proms. On the road to becoming valedictorian in high school, she was accused of a crime she didn’t commit due to the melanin in her skin and the racism in her community. After a year the surreal nightmare ended. Charges were dropped; but Dr. Sam’s heart had an icy chill over it. Her will triumphed, learning to feel the pain of racism thoroughly and moving through the pain to find love in her heart for the beauty of humanity – in all their varied shades. Dr. Sam was the first in her family to graduate from college, and so to get a PhD was remarkable. Today, Dr. Sam Kline passionately exists to elevate life’s trajectory by launching Black people and institutions higher through the preparation of hearts and minds in pursuit of the greater good. As a multifaceted diversity and multicultural expert, Dr. Sam consults schools to effectively connect with families and students by dealing with race and interlocking issues. By elevating their “Racialtude,” they elevate the students’ altitude. She intuitively and strategically supports educators and administrators to do the simultaneous personal and professional development necessary for successfully teaching diverse learners. Also in keeping with her commitments, she mentors Black women who desire to break out of limiting beliefs from familial, cultural, and societal influences, and ease into a self-defined womanhood. Dr. Sam taught in urban schools, connecting with students through her story of overcoming obstacles and allowing school to champion her vision. Having over 15 years experience in education, she earned her doctorate with specializations in teacher education and multicultural and equity studies in education at The Ohio State University. She’s often appreciated for her gift to suspend judgment in a spirit of love to see multiple perspectives while engaging the tough work of transforming the legacy of race and cultural divides and the ways they impact individuals and educational institutions.

According to Dr. Sam, “Seeing race is not the problem. The negative messages we have attached to different races, for example the biological, culturally deficient, or superior beliefs, present significant issues. In order to have cross-racial, cross-cultural unity, we have to acknowledge the complex impact of race in each other’s lives. But, first, when we embrace humility and empathy, we can truly hear, learn, and trust across race.”
